El Faro wins a Grant Thermal Recirculator

The superb prize of a Grant Thermal Recirculator has been won by Javier Capella of El Faro restaurant at Turnberry Quay in London’s Docklands. The Circulator, a Grant SV100 model worth £500, was donated by manufacturer, Grant Instruments, and was given away as the prize in a free entry competition on the stand of Cooking Technology & Concepts (CTC) at the recent Restaurant Show.

Cooking Technology and Concepts

CTC, a division of Magrini Limited, was exhibiting its specialist food preparation equipment at the exhibition. Amongst a broad portfolio of cutting edge products, CTC distributes Grant thermal circulators and water baths. These are at the heart of the ‘sous-vide’ slow cooking method and have become the latest must-have pieces of kitchen equipment for discerning chefs. They are capable of keeping the cooking water at a constant temperature plus or minus 0.1C at all times, which is the secret of this particular cooking technique.

Visitors to the CTC stand were invited to enter their business cards into a free draw, which was held immediately following the end of the exhibition at 4pm on October 14th. The winner, Javier Capella, is the head chef at El Faro restaurant, which was set up by three friends with a passion for Spanish cuisine. The restaurant looks out over the beautiful scenery of Crossharbour dock, yet is only 10 minutes from bustling Canary Wharf.

Our picture shows CTC’s Sales and Marketing Manager, Luke Bagnall, presenting the recirculator to Javier. Says Javier, “This is a very welcome prize. We already prepare some of our dishes using the slow cooking method and this means we can now use it to develop some new recipes. A very big thank you to Grant and CTC.”
